Our School

Our school is a single building over four floors all connected by a central atrium. It provides a state of the art learning environment which is environmentally efficient and fully equipped to meet the needs of Learners in the 21st Century.

Year 7

A significant feature of the school is our organisation of teaching and learning in Year 7.

All students are taught “Team” by their tutor and are based in their own classroom, much as they would have been in Year 6. We feel that the mixture of both Team and specialist teaching gives students the best possible introduction to secondary education.

Year 8 and Year 9

Students usually have a change of tutor at the start of Year 8 and it is the intention that the Year 8 tutor stays with their group until the student leaves school at the end of Year 11.

Throughout Year 8 and Year 9 students are taught by separate subject specialists both in mixed ability and in set classes.

Year 10 and Year 11

In the “Upper School” students have a great range of courses to choose from including a full range of GCSEs and rich range of vocational courses.

It is our intention to treat students as young adults and we work hard to make sure they all leave school, ready for the next stage of their learning, with the best possible qualifications. In Year 11 students come to school dressed in a way “suitable for the workplace”.
