School Holiday Policy & Holidays in Term Time

Tideway School is committed to providing all students with a good education. Regular attendance is important if students are to make the most of the opportunities provided by the school. The school would not normally expect requests for holidays to be taken during term time. Absence for holidays can only be authorised by the Headteacher and is not an entitlement.

The school follows DfES and LEA guidance when considering holiday absence requests. If there are exceptional circumstances, the Headteacher will consider your holiday absence request. The following factors will be taken into account:

If you wish to make a request for holiday absence, please click the icon links below to download an application form, fill it in and return it to Student Services at least three full weeks before the holiday date. Should the absence be authorised, your child must agree to catch up with all of the work missed.

Should the school not agree to authorise the absence and you proceed with the holiday, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised and this will invoke a response from the ESCC Educational Welfare Service. It is therefore essential that you wait for confirmation of the school’s decision before proceeding.
