Visits

The most recent school residential visit took place to Belgium & France over the end of term holiday.

Forty Year 10 students, accompanied by Mr Fanning, Mr Ferdowsian, Miss Pointing, Mrs Wilde and Mrs McDavitt, spent three days exploring the battlefields and memorials of the 1st World War.

The group visited:

- the preserved trenches at Hill 62;

- the grave of Valentine Joe Strudwick, at 15 one of the youngest soldiers to be killed on the Western Front;

- the Menin Gate Ceremony, held every evening in Ypres at 8pm;

- the trenches and memorial at Vimy Ridge in France.

All agreed that they had learned a tremendous amount during the visit.

The next battlefields visit will take place in October 2012.
